The Collector has a face (or two!)

I'm leaning towards the dark curls!

The Collector has a face (or two!)

A little paper-clay,
some big, brown 16mm flat paperweight eyes,
a bit of wool hair...
and the Collector finally has a personality that is emerging!
The big question is: dark curls OR wavy auburn?

The Collector!

This little guy is taking on "a life of his own!" His waist jacket-vest is cut from a single piece of wool felt. His hat is wool felt as well. He still needs some paper-clay hands, forearms and a face!
The three clear glass vases that are part of the wire basket will eventually be filled with his "finds."
Enjoy... Daryle

New Cage Doll Progress!

The rusty wire basket provided a perfect cage for this little guy! When finished, he will be about 22 inches tall. His body is cotton canvas duck. He will eventually have paper-clay facial features, glass eyes, and... I am thinking a "woodland gnome" like look. Enjoy! Daryle

New Cage Doll in the Works!

We found this great little wire basket at a local thrift store... the perfect base for a new cage doll!

The making of Her Majesty!

If you are interested in "the process" that I followed making her majesty... just check out the Cloth and Clay Dolls link on our blog. After signing in, click on "members" and you will find me! Again... this is a remarkable network of doll artists, each with his/her own unique approach and style.

Queen of Hearts Challenge!

Let me encourage you to visit a network of incredible doll artists... Cloth and Clay Dolls. There is a link to the web page right here, on our blog. You will need to sign-up as a member, to visit.

Here is my "Queen of Hearts." She is designed with a wool felt body and her head is paper-clay. I found a circa 1650 playing card from Italy, designed by Claude Valentin, and used it for the body (photo transfer). Her legs are wood dowels and she stands on a wood base.

Victorian Valentine's Day Cards

Katie has been working for several weeks on some handmade cards for Valentine's Day. Here are a few of them. She incorporated some recycled papers, labels and notions along with vintage reproduction pictures and stickers. She used a variety of rubber stamps, paper doilies and ribbon.
